Looking at it’s soaring popularity, i would like to take this opportunity to put up some reviews of this marvelous engine by our drivers in [tag]malaysia[/tag]. Just a short introduction:

Werks Team Line .21B3
The [tag]B3[/tag] is an excellent choice for the smaller and medium size circuits where torque is important. Priced affordable, it’s for the racer wanting the most “bang or the buck”

Werks Team Line .21B7
At long last, [tag]Werks Racing[/tag] is proud to introduce the beginning of our new series of engines, The Team Line. As the name suggests, this is exactly what our team uses across the country, and abroad. The [tag]B7[/tag] features a 10 fin cooling head atop new, highly efficient combustion chamber. The B7 is an excellent choice for larger circuits where horsepower and RPM is critical.

Werks Team Line .28B7
The .28 you’ve seen or heard [tag]Matt Goasch[/tag] and [ag]Michael Sharwin[/tag] testing is finally available. Werks Racing is proud to introduce The Team Line 28. At almost 3 horsepower, you could say it’s a B7 21 on steroids. If you want the most for your racing truck, this is your engine. 2.95HP 38,000 RPM

And here’s a review from [tag]David Lim[/tag], our sponsored Werks driver from Malaysia on his debut and recent TQ and win at the [tag]HPC[/tag] year end offroad race:

HPC Year End Race (17/12/06)

My first debut with Werks Racing B7 Team line engine at the HPC Year End race was fantastic. Powering my [tag]Kyosho[/tag] SP2 for the Top Qualifier “TQ” position and went on to win the hour long A-Main. The engine is very well-balance with lots of low end power where torque is needed for infield sections, and plenty of high top rpm charging down the straight.

Got the engine properly ran-in a day before the race, with the average track time of 44seconds per-lap, the B7 gave me an impressive run time of 8mins ++. The B7 idle so well and running on very consistent operating temperature of 115 Degree Celsius on such a hot sunny Sunday.

Look out for more reviews on this engine!

Best regards,
David Lim (Kyosho / Werks)

…and here’s a short review from Terrence Lim Tow Jia who ran in 4th at the race’s finals:

Found out how easy it was to run it in because of the idling. Power delivery is smooth and when needed, the punch is there. That shows how torquey it can be and it never compromises in the top end as well. Greatly amazed at its compression, after using it for such a long period, still feels like new. I rate this engine between the [tag]21plus-7[/tag] and [tag]RB WS7[/tag] (if not better). I had to ask my pit guy to richen it during my 1 hour final because its acceleration was a bit scary for my driving style. It wasn’t overheating or anything and the temp is just right for our climate. The run time is impressive too and it’s still running rich and it’s idling is one of the best I experience so far. It’s the best engine that I’ve tried so far referring to it’s all round capabilities!

…Here’s my personal review on the B7:

Previously Im running on another [tag]7 port[/tag] engine and I thought it was good but after switching to Werks 21B7, I wish I got this earlier! The best part is that is during it’s first startup, it already amazes me with it’s perfect idling – NEVER STOPS RUNNING FOR 9 FULL TANKS OF FUEL WHILE IM RUNNING IT IN! NEVER HAVE TO RESTART, JUST LET IT RUN ON ITS OWN. And it’s not only mine that acts that way, all of those who are running it in with me does too. Not to mention the beautiful design of the 10 fin heat sink too, hehe. As running it in is easy, so does the tuning part too. dialing it to the right tune is hassle free as the perfect idling helps a lot. During the first few test, we found out that there’s in fact a mid-end needle that we can dial to further tune it if at all it’s not that perfect. Normally engines comes with only the idling needle, the low end and the high end needle but this comes also with a mid end. Wow, we’r surprise there and then as one of the drivers engines did got into some difficulty in adjustments during tuning and that’s how we found this out. The design of the piston sleeve is simply marvelous! It’s beautifully carved…take a look at it if you came across one at your local hobby shop.

We pushed the tuning a bit further during [tag]GS cup[/tag] championship when one of the GS factory drivers help me to further tune it for proper response. It’s weird when I see how he dialled it in but he just lean the lower end needle (a lot) and richen the high end and wow! it responses perfectly; accelerates with a slight push on the throttle. He told me that there’s no need to focus on the high end needle when you already have a good RPM there but instead fix the lower end which will give you more advantage with this engine. Im now getting a .28B7 for my truggy and will definitely give you guys a feedback on that too.

To sum this up, this is a very good engine to own, smooth powerband, torquey while responsive and high RPM on the straights. It’s basically an all in one package engine with the best of the “all” in it. Well, the downside of it, make sure you clean the engine and the carb thoroughly before running it in because we find that the manufacturing debris are still intact. And not to leave this out, the carb is fully made of composite material, can’t get those in most engines within it’s price range.

Best Regards and hope my review will help in understandings this engine better,

SPENCER.
