2007 RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Series

Another report on the RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-Road Series direct from Gene Hickerson, RC Pro FL Series Director, (941) 219-9272.

We are now half way through the 2007 RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Series. Round 1 was held at DC Off-road R/C Park in Avon Park. This is one of the largest tracks in the USA at 200 x 110 and was the 1st big race there. The layout proved to be the toughest ever seen by the racers in FL. The fastest lap time of the weekend was set by Kyle Sokol with a 50.9 second lap time in 1/8 Truck. The 1/10th scale trucks were doing lap time of over 1 minute.
In the Machine’s R/C Hobbies 1/8th Expert Buggy Cash Payout Class, Cen’s Gene Hickerson took the TQ of round 1, but it was TTR’s JR Mitch taking the overall TQ. Sean Kersten took the win in the A-main event, followed by Luis Perez and Jeff Keeton. In the Carolina’s R/C 1/8 Arena Truck Class, Cen’s Kyle Sokol took the TQ. In the A-main event, it was Jeff Keeton taking the win, followed by Sean Kersten and Jon Reushaw.

Round 2 was held at Miami R/C Raceway which hosted the 2002 ROAR Nitro Off-road Nationals. Tropical Storm Barry tried to prevent the race by raining 4-7 inches on Friday, but with the great work of the track crew and the racers, the track was in super shape for racing by Saturday evening.
In the Machine’s R/C Hobbies 1/8th Expert Buggy class, it was Maxy Velazco taking TQ, but again Sean Kersten took the win, taking a commanding lead in the points. In the Carolina’s R/C 1/8 Arena Truck Class, it was all Sean Kersten. Kersten took the TQ and the win.
Round 3 will be on September 1st at Mills Pond in FT Lauderdale.
