9th Annual Nitro Challenge Pro A Main video by UndergroundRC.com

Friday, February 29th, 2008 360 views

Awesome video coverage by the UndergroundRC.com on the Nitro Challenge Pro A Main final. This is totally a cool video where you can see the how intense the race was. Especially the battle between Mike Truhe and Ryan Cavalieri at the final seconds. Some call it a controversial pass, some just said it is a normal race style of passing. We are not taking side here. We know we enjoy it and we believe so did the spectators there. I think it is true, if you could attend one race only in a year, this could be the one - in USA of course. So enjoy it.

The XRAY 808. The ultimate vehicle concept molded and shaped into an extraordinary engineering masterpiece by the artisans at XRAY. Superior as ever… yet all new. The 808 throws down a challenge for you to drive it… race it… win with it. Answer the call… take the challenge. Experience a new form of fascination, undreamed-of driving enjoyment… performance and dynamic ability you can count on. Experience the all-new XRAY 808.

There are many pictures at Team Xray website but these are some of them that we find very interesting.

XB808 shocktower

Shocktowers
The front and rear shocktowers are all-new. The shocktowers are CNC-machined from premium extra-robust 3.5mm (rear) and 4mm (front) thick high-grade graphite reducing significantly the weight. The shocktowers featured optimized shock positions and roll center positions.

XB808 Kingpin new design

The new-concept steering block is taken from 1/10 electric off-road cars, providing zero kingpin steering — the steering block rotates in an absolute vertical position so that the angle does not change. The new steering block gives a better steering radius which greatly improves the handling and makes the car even easier to drive on all tracks and provides more steering into corners. The steering block features one optimized Ackermann position.

The tiny size of the steering blocks was achieved by using new lighter ball-bearings. The inner bearing (13×19) carries a heavier load where the CVD drive shaft outdrive rotates… while the outer bearing (8×14) is newer & lighter than previously used to reduce unsprung weight. The two ball-bearings are further away from each other which provides more stability to the mounting and holding of the wheel axle.

XB808 new Direct Central Shafts Connection

Direct Central Shafts Connection
The central drive shafts have an all-new design and concept, a genuine XRAY innovation. To transfer power from the engine, both central drive shafts are directly connected to the pinion gears in the front and rear gearboxes. This allows direct transfer of power without any kinetic losses, as well as increasing the lifespan of the shafts thanks to the elimination of connecting parts. The drive shaft is inserted through the diff housing opening (with Labyrinth Dust Covers™ on the diff housings to keep the dirt outside) and with a pin connects directly to the pinion. The connecting pin sits in a ball-bearing to guarantee that the connecting pin will never fall out… and removing the risk of having the central drive shafts become disconnected.

Long Holiday Here! Chap Go Mei!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008 373 views

Oh yes, it is a very long holiday here. As you know, we are in Malaysia do celebrate the Chinese New Year really serious. Maybe not all but in my place, this festive is a serious celebration. So serious that nearly every shop is close during its long celebration. yes, the Chinese more or less majority here. That’s what Malaysia is all about. Variety of races, ethnics and culture. All come together celebrate as one.

As at today 21st February 2008, the Chap Go Mei, as the Chinese call it, marks the end of the two weeks celebration. After all the Lion dance, dragon and many firecrackers all around the town and city, it is that time again where they come together and eat again for the last time. Just for the kick, make sure you bring your weight loss pills along. AS we found out before, all the dinner from all the invitation we got, we always overload. Meaning, foods are too much for us. We seldom complain when comes to food. As you know, nearly every rc racers eat in a small quantity. They are too focus on their rc car or truck, that having breakfast or even lunch is out of question.

Yes, Josh Cyrul is now with the TOP Racing (T.O.P. Tokyo Hobbies Optional Parts). If you do not know who is Josh Cyrul, where have you been all this while. Geez. Check his website here at cefx.net. AS always, Thanks to RedRC.Net, our rc partner for providing this info.

Josh Cyrul with TOP Racing picture

Masato and Vincent Yip of T.O.P. Racing say: “We are extremely happy that Josh has decided to race for us. Not only is he a world class driver, but also a respected inventor and innovator. We are dedicated to making an impact in the R/C industry and we feel Josh is the right person to lead us.”

I want to personally welcome Josh to the team. We sent him a car 5 days before the Snowbirds for testing and critique. Within having the kit for a couple hours he was already sending us build updates. The following day we were receiving updates on his testing. These updates were not one sentence emails, but rather lengthy emails regarding technical aspects of the car, results of testing, what he liked, and what he thought could be better. So far he says he’s very happy with the car, but I’ll let him tell you that for himself.

As always, Happy Chinese New Year 2008, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Happy Rat year 2008, this is a must celebration and a must greeting to all our Chinese readers and viewers.

Happy Chinese New year | Gong Xi Fa Cai The Rat Year 2008 image

Especially to all Malaysian, once again, Gong Xi Fa Cai. It is a good year to celebrate big things according to the Fengshui Teaching. Either to celebrate birthday, baby full moon and of course the use of wedding rings are the most favorite one. No one can deny the joy of marriage especially to your love one. Let me insert something here, imagine if you can marry a girl who is and has the same interest like you in radio control car | truck. Imagine the joy of it. Seriously, we have many friends who got married with girls that totally not interested and even got into argument when the guys gone for some RC Bashing Session when they supposed to be with their wives and family. Haha.
