Monster Truck HPI Savage X One Way Bearing Mod Video
Check this out especially if you are HPI Savage owner. This particular video not only going to show you how to modify your problematic stock One Way Bearing (OWB), it also gonna show you his great monster truck stand. Oh yes and he did with an interesting music in the background too. LOL.

That’s awesome. The owb one my savage x 4.6 has been replaced not too long ago and is all ready shot. There is no audio on this video so I’m not sure if I am missing any more details. Is the hex size on the nut the same as the one on the original owb? Did you screw the set screw into the nut until it was flush with the surface of the nut? How well has this been working for you so far? I would love to get rid of that ridiculous one week bearing bearing on my savage. (The new one only lasted about a week on the new one lol.)

Hi Eric,
honestly speaking i never tried this mod on my own. I already changed mine to pullstart … so no more OWB blowned by the powerful starter.
but from the video… i believe the size of the nut should be the same as the orig hex so it can fit inside. I think this mod could cure the problem… should be the perfect solution for the OWB prob. give it a try. and share with us how the outcome.

If you are daring enough to attempt this I would sudjest you double check your center of the nut and starter shaft or youll end up splitting the screw pilots on the roto start.
Shyly admitting to this….
luckily i had a pull start lying around and an extra starter shaft since i plained the current which I might add worked as expected, but failed do to assumption that since the roto start unit had some play in the gears I figured would been able to overcome the starter nut offset.
Oh well, BACK to the bench
