HMS October 2008 Cup Pictures

I know this is way belated and overdue. Organizing HMS Racing October 2008 Cup race held on 25th to 26th October has been ruined by the not so sporting tropical weather of Kota Kinabalu Sabah. I am sure up to this day, racers attended the race with full hope to compete still cannot get rid the feelings of frustration for there is actually NO RACE happening on these date. Sad but true :(

How tough it is to organize a Radio Control Race?

Being the organizer is no easy task. You have to take responsibility on many things and that may include the confirmed racer hotel booking, their transports to the track, transponder aka race computer man, the camps and not to mention the pit table whether they are enough of not. We are not talking some computer desks here. We talking real decent enough pit table to cater 100 plus racers with enough space to do their car maintenance. The track need to be prepared. Surface crack is totally need to be abolished. Driver stand stairs that uses wood as steps need to be replaced. You do not want racers to step and break it and fall onto their faces. No no.

The race is finally here and everyone seems to be ready. Everyone seems to be anxious for today is the big day – 25th October, Saturday, the qualifying day for every racers. Sunday, 26th October will be the final. We try our best to do the coverage. Are you ready for it?

LET’S RACE!!!

HMS Racing 25 October 2008 GP Cup

All the big guns racers are there. We expected some explosive qualifying and maybe some dramas with the result. That surely will ad the fun factor in RC Racing. Team all the way from Peninsular Malaysia, like Team BM Marshall representing Team Xray and Motonica, The Mizan gang with their Serpents car, The Bruneian top driver Wirawan and their gangs, Team Chris Lim from another Brunei’s team and of course, the ever supportive from Sarawak, bringing their Serpents, Xray and most of all the new 1/8th Motonica cars.

Just for info, qualifying starts at 8am but already at 7am all the radios need to be compounded and schedule to finish everything by 4:30pm in the afternoon. Hopefully the rain is far far away from the track. It has been for few days raining keep coming just after the 12pm mark. Practice rounds have been cut short and for some, not even had the chance to do any single lap on the track. The weather has been so cruel to all racers, especially for the outstation. Coming all the way, with expenses that amounted for few months to recover, seeing the weather in Kota Kinabalu Sabah really a frustrating experience.

Even for the beginner, they already showed sign of boring for the their big race. Oh yes, the race indeed somehow gathered many new faces, especially in the 1/8th bigger class GP. Locally, more than five people from the EP class joined the big guys straight to the 1/8th class. Pretty exciting indeed seeing them together. Nevertheless, despite the rain falls since two days ago on every afternoon, most of the racers still keep their finger crossed and high hope that by today, by this very morning, the weather will be perfect for the first qualifying runs and may it end with everybody got the chance to make at least one good round. We hope so. :D

We hope we post more pictures here, we did take lots of them but no time to post them up. Hope we be able to do it. As they said, pictures says thousand words or whatever equivalent to it. :D

LET’S RACE!!
