HPI Challenge 2008 1st Round - Kolombong Inanam Electric RC Videos

Saturday, April 12th, 2008 | 134 views

Just to direct you all to our sub domain Electric Powered RC Just For you and it was all about the recent HPI Challenge 2008 1st Round. The report quite interesting and it was done by the Champion himself. We are wondering how he could produce such a good report while still could perform well on the race. We tried that before and that is why we decided to just do the race reporting only. Hahaha.

Anyway, Here are a few, two videos actually, taken by his lovely girlfriend. Both videos are on the video Final Round 1 and 2 of the HPI Challenge 2008. We just assumed there were taken by the girlfriend since we cannot see her face. We noticed it was quite hot and we also noticed the occasional drop of the umbrella in front of the view. Must be damn hot and tiring. We hope she was using the best anti wrinkle cream available in the market. Racing under the constant exposure of the sun is not so good to the skin. We experienced it and we were like barbecued people on the next day. :D

Josh Cyrul with T.O.P. Racing!

Thursday, February 7th, 2008 | 211 views

Yes, Josh Cyrul is now with the TOP Racing (T.O.P. Tokyo Hobbies Optional Parts). If you do not know who is Josh Cyrul, where have you been all this while. Geez. Check his website here at cefx.net. AS always, Thanks to RedRC.Net, our rc partner for providing this info.

Josh Cyrul with TOP Racing picture

Masato and Vincent Yip of T.O.P. Racing say: “We are extremely happy that Josh has decided to race for us. Not only is he a world class driver, but also a respected inventor and innovator. We are dedicated to making an impact in the R/C industry and we feel Josh is the right person to lead us.”

I want to personally welcome Josh to the team. We sent him a car 5 days before the Snowbirds for testing and critique. Within having the kit for a couple hours he was already sending us build updates. The following day we were receiving updates on his testing. These updates were not one sentence emails, but rather lengthy emails regarding technical aspects of the car, results of testing, what he liked, and what he thought could be better. So far he says he’s very happy with the car, but I’ll let him tell you that for himself.

I’ve never worked with Josh before this, and from what I can tell so far he is dedicated and passionate about our industry. His engineering knowledge about touring cars is second to none. We are very fortunate to have him and will utilize his engineering talents to produce the best products for the racer.

This is what our Josh Cyrul said about the car:

First off, I just wanted to thank everyone at T.O.P. Racing for all the help and effort. It was only a few days before the race and I was a little weary of getting the car and getting up to speed quick enough. Vincent, EJ and Michael all worked quickly to get everything to me and from there I was able to do some testing here but nothing near as much as I would have liked to have had going into one of the largest events of the year. Overall, I was very happy going into the race and I felt that we had the oppertunity to have a good showing.

At the event, it was definatly a rough start as the track immediatly had super high traction which I had no chance to test the car on. I struggled the first 1-2 days trying to find a safe set-up that I could work with as the car just had so much steering!! Towards the end of practice I had found a pretty good set-up but I broke the left front castor block on the last run of practice. This was a major screw up as I put on castor block that I didn’t check which was a 6 degree instead of the 4 degree that I had been running. Needless to say, this wasn’t found until after the 3rd round of qualifying.

In the 4th round, the car had a pretty bad understeer (due to compensating the set-up for the castor block) in 19T so I just barely missed the final. I made an adjustment for Mod and the car was really good but unfortunetly, the speed control was letting go (at the time I thought it was the motor) so the car was off pace power wise and it slowed the last 1-2 laps costing me the final. This left me to the B-main bump in both where I was able to adjust the set-up a little more for 19T and race my way into the final. In Mod, the car was great but the speedo said it was not to be as it was ok for a few laps then went into what felt like turbo lag and then hung in 1/4 throttle (neutral position moved) before it finally just stopped working. Dissapointing really as I felt the set-up was finally right where I could have raced up in the top 5 in the finals. The 19T main was tough as with a new speedo the car was definatly much faster (I guess it was hurting me in that class also) but a few crashes an body tucks put me scrappin’ for positions in the back of the pack.

Overall, it was a great weekend for being the first event with the car. I was super happy with having no problems with tweaking and with the way the car reacted to changes. I’m definatly looking forward to the up and coming events to better show what the car can do!!

Thanks again to everyone at T.O.P. Racing!!

Another video for all Non Nitro RC Drifting friends. Taken by my friend, RCSabah at Asia City, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Now, KK’ian(Sabahan) Racers are concentrating more on Drifting. That is seems the Craze now. Most of the senior racers are turning their old Tamiya, Yokomo and Pro4 chassis to become their drifting machine. For the newbies, most of them using the HB cyclone, most the Tub chassis. With very high turn motor, like the 23T motor, the torquey and very slick tires, the rc drifters seems to have fun drifting forever. A very cool way to end your office day at the parking lot.

For info, the video is taken at around 10pm to 11pm at night. Just to show, how crazy this guys are. Our team will cover this new craze more in the future. Please come back for more. Or subscribe JonehRC Email Feeds

Sega Off Road Buggy Race Video!?

Thursday, March 1st, 2007 | 189 views

Yes, you read it correctly. Its Sega Game(EU 1993). The developer was SIMS. I was browsing in the YouTube and i found this 2 videos and it is really interesting. If you look closely, it also has the suspension level tune-up, tires setting, optional nitros and a few more. Thanks to CRVKHZ for posting this video. It still offroad buggy for me. :D The best part again, once in awhile you can get cash on some of the corners. Meaning you really have to drive skillfully and on the right lane. Hahahha. This is so good. :D

Enjoy!

OK, it is not Nitro. I would have said “Sorry…” BUT what the heck. Any good article, deserve to be in this blog.

Now this is what i call dedication and pure interest to the max. I salute this guy. Now, who am i talking about? I also do not know. He’s only known as Joeling in rctech. But he is friendly and i’m sure you’ll thank me and mesmerized by what he put his time to writing all these. Valuable post. you will agree me when you finished reading it. nod1.gif

Introduction

I began to take rc seriously again after a 15 year layoff. Of course, ’serious’ is pretty relative in terms of the overall scheme of things. I was a basher & will probably always be one. I have never raced rc at any competitive level in my previous life either. I’m not about to change. Instead, I have always been a tinkerer, trying to make something different, though not necessarily better. In addition, I only knew electric stuff – no nitro for me. Hmm, thinking back now, I kind of remember that nitro was starting to take off just as my interest was fading. Could the two be linked ?
