Neo08 Neo Race Final Buggy Result!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 | 162 views

Here a snapshot of the Live News of the Neo 2008 Race. Seeing it live just by refreshing the page is not so much fun as watching it in person from the track itself but nevertheless, you can really feel it just by watching the time they made. Adam Drake is the man here. From the beginning, never once it showed that he was behind or something. He is always in front right up to the last minute. In fact only Mike Truhe managed to keep up with him. The rest are either 1 lap behind or more.

Neo08 Neo Race Final Buggy result

Result live from RCNews.Net. We are not sure whether there will be another final of this Buggy class. For now, this is the standing. Adam Drake is the man. Losi 8ight is the ride. Well done. The Drake is in control! If this is end of it, meaning all top three are from USA and Taylor James is on the 3rd spot.

Xray XT8 Truggy 2008 Spec!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 | 306 views

We just found out about this Xray XT8 Truggy 2008 spec. We thought something new but nothing at all. There is no such thing as 2008 new specification for the Xray XT8 Truggy. Here from the most reliable source for us - Xray own website.

Due to their successful outing on many international races and being consistent on the top of podium, they just decided for 2008 specs remain unchange and just copy whatever 2007 winning specs has already. Now that’s what we call efficient and smart. Hahaha.

Xray XT8 truggy 2008 spec image here

Dipl. Eng. Juraj Hudy, chief designer of XRAY:
“The XT8 has been extremely successful since its release, and the long development time has paid off as the car has been proven to be ‘bulletproof’ and its performance has been at the very highest level. We have followed all reports, feedback and exeriences very closely, not only from team drivers but also from our customers around the world… and as such I am happy to confirm that there are no immediate plans to alter the XT8 and it will remain with the same specifications for the 2008 season. I hope everybody enjoys the XT8 and I wish everybody great success in the 2008 racing season.”

Malaysian Top Offroad Racer - David Lim

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 | 271 views

We just cannot ignore this report aka comment made by our Malaysian Top Offroad Buggy and Truggy racer, Mr David Lim, at one of the Malaysian Thread in rctech. Go ahead, read what he said and tell us later why he is always on the top podium and why he is always so kind to all of us. Great personality and work ethic - is a formula that equal champion in itself. No wonder he is sponsored by many companies and currently is under Team Losi Malaysia and Werks Racing Malaysia.

David Lim champion at Hobao Cup picture here

To My Friends & Off-Road Lovers,

To be frank, I have been thinking for quite sometime should I write out something to share my experiences. Today I have made up the decision, and decided to put in writing and I totally have no intention to hurt anyone feelings nor create any unnecessary forum wars ok. If I unintentionally said something wrong, kindly accept my apologies. Nor I am trying to show off my collection of achievements ya. I have been following up on this forum since the day Danny posted it, lots of enthusiastic potential participants been asking questions and inputting personal thoughts and opinions. I hope you guys have gotten a satisfy reply from the organizer and I personally appreciate those feedbacks from you guys ya.

The 2008 National series is just around the corner, taking this opportunity I would like to share my personal experience and the benefits that I have gain from participating in series races for the past few years. I guess the history should began with thanking Mr. Thomson Chong (JSA) where he started the JSA 7 rounds series from November 2003 and ended on April 2004. In my opinions Thomson efforts have revolutionized the way off road racing have been conducted in the pass years. The series began with average participants of 30 drivers and as time flies only left back approximately 10 to max of 12 guys racing for the remaining series. Although is a small crowd I have not gave up racing coz the track was so challenging where full up big jumps, followed by multiple jumps and etc. I have never experience this sort of fun before and I have learned so much to up grade my driving and jumping skills. At the end of the series I finished 3rd overall with Jessel (HPC) being the champ.
During this 7 rounds of racing besides having the chance to gain more racing track time, I am glad they were this group of friends sitting around at the pit areas for me to exchange knowledge, answer my doubts in set up and etc. This is the best time for me to learn and picked up experience from the old timers and experience drivers in off road scene.

The trend continue in June 2004 and ended on April 2005, we had the RCAC 6 round series. I am proud to say I managed to finish as the overall Champ this time and I have improved a lot. Being the national champ and move on to race in my very first FEMCA in Malang Indonesia. The outing was great but not my result was up side down…hehe, overall finishing 98th position out of 150 drivers if not mistaken. That time I was so disappointed and I took the opportunity to speak to some of the best factory drivers in Asia and world level. For example, Atsushi Hara, Kenji Osaka, Cheng Wu Jung (Taiwan No.1) and discover my biggest weak points were badly lack of racing experience and track time. I sit back and think for a while, I practice extremely hard prior to FEMCA I would probably say I have spent so much money on my affordable level to purchase the best equipment for the race and yet I still way behind. That was the time I realized a besides participating on those ad-hoc major event l
ike LPR Master, Hobao Cup and etc is not sufficient. Participating in a series race is the best way for me to have constant measurable race time and polished up my driving skills. I was so much looking forward to race on the next coming series race.

Prior to last year 2007 FEMCA in Pattaya, we had a 3 rounds series. The competition was so intense throughout the series. But it was a good warmed up and preparation prior to FEMCA. With all these real time racing practices, I am glad I able to finish in the top 15th position for my 2007 FEMCA race. I will continue to chase for top 10 in the next FEMCA. 1 of the biggest problem in Malaysia off road scene is that we are badly lack of races. For myself as a sponsor driver today, I guess max max I get to race about 12 to 15 races in a year, comprising Malaysia major events like Hobao Cup, LRP Master, HPC International, national series (3 – 5 races) and some overseas racing. But my teammates in Europe or preferably US they can complete the same amount of races in just 1 quarter of the year. That is why these guys are extremely fast, constant race environment practice, sharing of knowledge and vast improvement in driving skills = great fun and victory.

If possible I urge all my friends and a new joiners to off road hobby come and participate in the 2008 national series. With great blessing from the God, I hope everyone can run in all the 5 series. I have seen some posting where people were so concern the lucky draws and etc, once again I have no intention to offend anybody. Is that really important? Honestly my personal answer is “No”. Those are just additional excitement thanks to our local hobby shops generosity to sponsor engines and etc to build up the crowd. But the experience of off road racing one will gain at the end of the series worth way much above the price of an engine. I can have the best engine where money can buy, but I don’t have the skill set to put the engine power into great use even the best factory modified engine will just transform into a normal engine in the eye of the spectators.

I guess I have been a little long winded, once again looking forward to see you guys on March 16th and lets race ok. To conclude this, thousand of apologies if my posting has hurt anyone feelings! At the end of the day I am just another off road lovers who enjoys the hobby very much. Trust me and please give Danny and gang your support where these guys have been working so hard over the months planning up the event, finding sponsors and etc. Why would 1 bother to do all these for charity, these guys earn nothing because of the passion in off-road they are doing all for us.

Take care & Cheers!

Regards,
David Lim
(Werks Racing & Team Losi)

The above picture is one of his latest achievement, Top Qualified (TQ) the recent Hobao Cup and also TQ’ing the truggy class and winning it at the end. You can check his other achievement in his own David Lim Archive Category. Yes, we do keep track of our own top man. Go go David Lim. :D

9th Annual Nitro Challenge Pro A Main video by UndergroundRC.com

Friday, February 29th, 2008 | 219 views

Awesome video coverage by the UndergroundRC.com on the Nitro Challenge Pro A Main final. This is totally a cool video where you can see the how intense the race was. Especially the battle between Mike Truhe and Ryan Cavalieri at the final seconds. Some call it a controversial pass, some just said it is a normal race style of passing. We are not taking side here. We know we enjoy it and we believe so did the spectators there. I think it is true, if you could attend one race only in a year, this could be the one - in USA of course. So enjoy it.

This 1/10th Class A Main Final has been stopped due to transponder problem. No signal detected. The race was stopped at the 30th minute mark. The decision was made based on the computer printout and by Haji Jusri Aziz last words - The President of RCAC from Kuala Lumpur.

Here the 1/8th A Main Final Race printout. Right-click and save the link in your computer.

For info, the 1/8th A Main Final race has been stopped at 10 minutes mark due to visibility problem. The race was actually ran in the dark. Sadly all this was due to the faulty transponder line. Someone had stepped on the transponder line while running to pick up his driver’s car at the far end of the right sweeper.

Racers busy at the faulty transponder line

Anyway, the race can be considered successful. From a few racers that we managed to ‘interview’, they all said they had fun racing and that they have more than enough rounds of qualifying. We thought the same. Even with some glitches with the transponder pickup line, all racers had some fun racing and enough time to qualify better in the final main. More often, the qualifying rounds has not been disturbed by the unfriendly weather. The weather was hot and sunny all throughout the two days. It did rain at night of Saturday and thus the early Sunday qualifying was a bit ‘wet’. After the 2nd group of heat 5, the track back to its great traction. Nevertheless, some racers went for the 37 shores but overall, it is the 40 shores tires the choice for all. For the 1/8th, its the 37 & 35.

This HMS Racing 2008 Cup race seems to be the battle ground for the strong Team Xray NT1 and the local favorites Serpent 710/720. Kyosho was there too to make the competition a bit challenging. From the result above, each has their own heroes. On the other hand, in the 1/8th class, Serpent seem to be the chosen kit.

Till next meeting, hope everyone enjoyed racing in Kota Kinabalu Sabah. Hope everyone met their objective and improved their personal best. Hope to see you all again. For us here, Joneh especially would like to take this opportunity to say “It has been a great pleasure racing with the elite and meeting lots of friendly people. It seems that racing nitro on-road is the next best thing if not the same, like racing the nitro off-road. I personally had enjoyed and unbelievably had improved my own personal best, reaching the final Main at better position than ever before. Hope to meet and race again with all of you.” :D

More pictures afterward. Race result for B-Main, C up to F-main, will be published later. Thanks for waiting. :D

Hobao Cup 2008 Final Result

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 | 390 views

The Hobao Cup Annual 2008 Race is finally over. Interestingly the result seems to be monopolized by the Team HongNor from Singapore. So it seems. At front, we would like to congratulate Wenyi from Team Hongnor Singapore for winning the 1/8th Buggy class and almost captured the Truggy class as well. Next is of course to our buddy, Malaysian top driver, David Lim from Team Losi / Werks for Top Qualifying (TQ) the Buggy and winning the Truggy class. Well done both of you.

Moreover, from the sources we have, the Hobao Malaysia organizer, led by Mr. Thompson Chong has been reportedly done a very good job. We have done our check, it is indeed a very successful event and everytime, every year, lesser people complaint due to their awesome job on handling situation. As reported by friend, great food and if we have to mention, no marshaling job too. :D

Anyway, thanks to our RC Partner, Neobuggy.net to make us straight again. They featured a story on Yannick Aigoin’s Racing but specifically on the new GRP RC Engine inside look. Neobuggy has done an interview on Yannick a month ago regarding his prototype engine but no details leaked as at that moment. This was Yannick’s answer when the question popped at him.

“The GRP engine that I am currently testing is a prototype engine which has no name yet” (Y.Aigoin)

Here what Neobuggy.net reported on their site.

It’s fair to say that Yannick’s first race with all this new equipment was a baptism of fire, 2 of the year’s biggest races – Worlds warmup and the Nitrocross race. Results were mixed, but the potential was there.

Now a few weeks wiser, the word is that GRP have been working on this project for some time; their meteoric rise in the 1/8th Offroad engine sector is quite extraordinary when you consider they launched only in January 2006. The project is a completely new engine and line, with new internal technical parts, and aesthetically. We also hear GRP will have a special strategy for this line, a unique tuned high-performance model – really aimed at the best of the best, but with a decent price tag.

GRP’s team comprising of engine guru Mario Rossi, and now R & D specialist Aigoin is destined to result in a pretty special engine!

RC Video Camera aka PC Security Camera

Sunday, November 25th, 2007 | 259 views

Have you checked the onboard video camera on Adrien Bertin Buggy? Now that is one cool onboard video shot. I am very sure it can somehow help you to visualize how the buggy gone through all the bumps and jumps; how you see the shocks doing their jobs and indirectly see the style of Adrien’s driving. In short, the video camera can help you and I go through the track in a better different perspective. (more…)

Aigoin Racing as GRP Products Distributor in France

Aigoin Racing logoGRP products logo

We love GRP Products and in fact, everything about GRP we like. So anything related to GRP is of course our concern too. So it is appropriate to talk about Aigon Racing too simply because they are The New Distributor for GRP Products in France. The name sounds familiar isn’t it? Yes, it is the same Yannick Aigoin, The great Pro driver who used to drive for XRay XB8 Buggy and now with Team Losi on their 8ight buggy. Cool.

2007 RC Pro Series Nitro Off-road Finals - B&B Raceway Hudson

Thursday, November 15th, 2007 | 333 views

Once again, Gene Hickerson provides us with this complete race review of the recent RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Finals. Here, in his own words. :)

The 2007 RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Finals were held at B&B Raceway in Hudson. The 4th and final round was worth 1.5 times the points to determine the State Champion. Everyone was allowed 1 drop. The track layout was not difficult, but had many elevation changes and was very fun with lots of air time. 106 entries were ready to battle for the RC Pro Series Championship. Saturday saw 3 rounds of 10 minute IFMAR qualifiers, best 2 of 3 seeded you for the mains. On Sunday, we ran the IFMAR Tree format, with 1st & 2nd going directly to the A-Final, while everyone else had to bump from the Semi-Finals.

Team Associated 1/10th Gas Truck:

In gas truck, Michael Delay took the TQ spot after 3 rounds of qualifying, followed by J.P. Tirronen and Juan Mendez. The main event was 30 minutes long. At the start, Joey Leveque took the early lead, followed by Delay and Mendez. Around lap 17, Juan Gascot took over the lead. Near the half way mark, Delay took over the lead and went on to win, lapping everyone but 2nd place Gascot. Tirronen finished 3rd. That gave Delay the Championship as well.

Traxxas Monster Truck:

In MT, Michael Jones took the TQ. Jones was not running the whole series, but was the fastest all through qualifying. Tom Avera was 2nd and Daunte Villanueva in 3rd. The A-main was 30 minutes. Avera took the early lead and dominated the whole main event to take the win. Series leader Scott Beiswinger finished 2nd and won the Championship. Mike Jones came back from early problems to finish 3rd.

Carolina’s R/C 1/8 Arena Truck:

The championship for truck was very close. In qualifying, Tony Pattishall took the overall TQ, followed by Mike Jones in 2nd. They both went straight to the Final. In the 20 minute Even Semi, Jeff Keeton, Tony Rivas, David Solomon, Jose Contreras, and Stephen Pounds took the 5 bump up spots into the A-Final. In the Odd Semi, Anton Watson, Sean Kersten, Kawri Brown, Roy P Hines, and DJ Hoelzle took 1st-5th for the bump up. The A-main was 40 minutes long and a very exciting race. Jones, Pattishall, Kersten, and Keeton all lead during the 1st half of the main. The last half of the main was a bumper to bumper battle for the lead between 1st & 2nd place in the points Keeton and Kersten. When the tone sounded, Sean Kersten had taken the win, giving him the Championship as well. Keeton took 2nd and Pattishall 3rd, all on the same lap.

Pro-line 1/8 Sportsman Buggy:

In sportsman, Tony Pattishall took the TQ in the 1st 2 rounds to go directly to the A-final along with Scott Beiswinger. In the 20 minute even Semi, Kawri Brown, Armondo Ledesna, Rene Infante, TJ Allen, and Jesse Stuiso took the bump ups. In the odd Semi, Jose Contreras, Patrick Batezel, Richard “Joe Dirt” Speights, Pete Caballero, and Ken Van Curen finished 1st-5th to bump into the A-Final. The A-Final was 30 minutes long. Series leader, Bob “spanky” Bjorkman broke during the semi and failed to make it to the A-final, ending his chance at the title. That left the door open to the rest of the top 10. At the start, Armondo Ledesna took the lead. Pattishall soon regained the lead, but broke at about the half way mark. That gave the lead to Kawri Brown who went on to win by lapping everyone but 2nd place Rene Infante. The 2nd place for Infante gave him the Championship and title of 1/8 Sportsman Buggy RC Pro Florida Nitro Off-road Series Champion.

Machine’s R/C Hobbies 1/8 Expert Buggy:

The expert buggy was giving out $1,000 cash at the finals for a total of over $1,700 for the series. JR Mitch took the TQ in round 1 and 2 to go directly to the A-Final. I (Gene Hickerson) TQ’d the 3rd round, but Ryan Eckert took 2nd with two 2nd’s and headed for the 40 minute long A-final. in the even Semi, Jeff Keeton, myself, Jim Larrimore, J.P. Tirronen, and Luis Perez bump up to the A-final. In the odd Semi, Anton Watson, Bart Collins, Joey “Batman” Perez, Lucas Mardis, and Sean Kersten took the final 5 spots in the A-Final. At the start, Mitch took the early lead and started to streach out a big lead. I quickly moved into 2nd and started to run down Mitch. On lap 3, I did the fastest lap of the weekend with a 32.1, almost 1 second faster then any other lap of the race. At about 1/3rd of the way in, I caught Mitch. But before I got to battle with him, he flamed out and soon broke at the 5 minute mark trying to make his lap back. Keeton held on to 2nd for the rest of the race and Kersten in 3rd, while I went on to take an easy win by lapping the whole field. The points were added, and 3rd place gave Sean Kersten the Championship, followed by myself and Keeton to round out the top 3.

The series was a great success for its first year and we look forward to an even better year in 2008. Thank you all of the racers who supported the series and our series sponsors: Machine’s R/C Hobbies, CEN Racing, Maxy’s Fuel, J-Concepts, Pro-line, Carolina’s R/C, Traxxas, Mona Vie-www.getacai.net, Dark Identity, JK Enterprizes, and Team Associated.

While their Team Boss, owner of Pits Hobby Shop, Rodrigo Echeverri was using Ofna Hyper 8.5 for the first time. Well done and congratulation to all of you.
