Insurance Coverage for your RC Stuffs, anyone?

Friday, May 16th, 2008 | 18 views

This is just a thought. There are so many rc kits out there. Buggy, Truggy, Monster Truck, Mini Truck, Electric RC Car etc. When you are traveling around meaning where you have to carry luggage aboard the aeroplane to go for international race, I am just wondering whether you guys have any coverage, insurance coverage like what we have for the car insurance???

The traveling alone already costing us in hundreds if not in thousands of our currency. Not to mention our radio control stuffs. Definitely more than a few thousands, easily. Is there such a thing for rc stuffs to be insured? We never traveled that far and never so far encounter the feelings of losing our rc luggages and never happened so far. Thanks to our reliable local airports. However, seriously. I think we should considered having our rc stuffs insured. Honestly speaking, I rather lose my clothings than my KO Propo Helios radio. Hahaha. Especially when the rc radio was bought by your spouse as a birthday present. Ehem. :D

What do you guys think? Should we or should we not? Furthermore, on the other hand, is there any insurance company out there that can insured our rc stuffs?? I have no knowledge we have here locally. Sad. :(

RC Best Buy, where?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008 | 42 views

For us when we just have to buy something great, we either go for the latest rc stuffs available from our local hobbyshop or simply go to some sites, like forums to get the best buy. One place that we never stop going is at RC equipment for sale thread. Well of course most of them are just second hands but if you look real hard, you can find gems there. We did :D

On that term alone, best buy can be what is best for us. It does not mean best buy with expensive price tag. Don’t you agree? You can check at Buy Dot Com for everything else.

Ok, we just rambling here. ;)

Monster Truck leisure story here!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008 | 179 views

Oh yes, it has been long since we talk about our beloved Monster Truck. Specifically the HPI Racing Savage. There is no better truck out there that can be the king of the basher. You can just bash them to death, sorry for the word, and they still coming back for more. How interesting isn’t it? :D

Normally in this blog the Savage is usually associated with the STS engine, specifically the STS D28M. The mega power in its area. However, nowadays, there are more engines out there that are crazier, brutal and even too much power. One example is the OS 30. Same like monster truck, better and innovation continues. So other brands pop up when come to bashing truck. I am sure you know Team associated Monster GT and the Team Losi LST. They both are just awesome trucks. I wish they are available here locally, but not :(

Maybe if we have such vacation deals from Shermans Travel Dot com we will be able to go to the USA or anywhere on the west to get this great design monster trucks. For now, we just have to be glad with what we have like the HPI Savage Monster truck. (sigh)

Long Holiday Here! Chap Go Mei!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008 | 219 views

Oh yes, it is a very long holiday here. As you know, we are in Malaysia do celebrate the Chinese New Year really serious. Maybe not all but in my place, this festive is a serious celebration. So serious that nearly every shop is close during its long celebration. yes, the Chinese more or less majority here. That’s what Malaysia is all about. Variety of races, ethnics and culture. All come together celebrate as one.

As at today 21st February 2008, the Chap Go Mei, as the Chinese call it, marks the end of the two weeks celebration. After all the Lion dance, dragon and many firecrackers all around the town and city, it is that time again where they come together and eat again for the last time. Just for the kick, make sure you bring your weight loss pills along. AS we found out before, all the dinner from all the invitation we got, we always overload. Meaning, foods are too much for us. We seldom complain when comes to food. As you know, nearly every rc racers eat in a small quantity. They are too focus on their rc car or truck, that having breakfast or even lunch is out of question.

Whatever it is, we have at least a couple of invitation to attend tonight. More foods are actually good for you. Good for you, good for RC. Yes, there is actually a connection here. Just check all the western racers. You will never see a tiny bony racer on the podium. They all at least 60kg and above. Hahaha. Just kidding. :D

OK, will continue later on with the rc news. We promise. For now, dinner and the pills are ready! Hahaha.

Happy Chinese New year | Gong Xi Fa Cai from JonehRC.com

Thursday, February 7th, 2008 | 239 views

As always, Happy Chinese New Year 2008, Gong Xi Fa Cai, Happy Rat year 2008, this is a must celebration and a must greeting to all our Chinese readers and viewers.

Happy Chinese New year | Gong Xi Fa Cai The Rat Year 2008 image

Especially to all Malaysian, once again, Gong Xi Fa Cai. It is a good year to celebrate big things according to the Fengshui Teaching. Either to celebrate birthday, baby full moon and of course the use of wedding rings are the most favorite one. No one can deny the joy of marriage especially to your love one. Let me insert something here, imagine if you can marry a girl who is and has the same interest like you in radio control car | truck. Imagine the joy of it. Seriously, we have many friends who got married with girls that totally not interested and even got into argument when the guys gone for some RC Bashing Session when they supposed to be with their wives and family. Haha.

Anyway, whatever it is, enjoy the holiday and may all Chinese and everyone who celebrates it has the Health and Prosperity Gods with them all throughout the Rat year 2008. Peace to all mankind.

*** can’t wait for the holiday to be over simply because all the track and hobby shops are close now [crying]

RC Leisure Moment again - Billiard!

Sunday, December 30th, 2007 | 202 views

Yes, it is that moment again where everything seems to stop. The Christmas mood is still there and the New year 2008 is coming. Obviously no race during the weekend. Everyone like to stay at home with the family and just lazying themselves in front of the TV.

Other than staying indoor, what else you can do if not all the activities related to staying indoor. Well other than we start considering racing the carpet version of the Hotbodies Cyclone Carpet Spec, playing online gaming, kill more terrorist in the counterstrike, we may also consider playing the Billiard from www.borderbilliards.com. It may not be the same like playing our favourite snooker, however Billiard is still in the same league with balls, cue and carpet table with six holes. Same like our RC rides - RC truck, truggy, buggy and the electric version of it.

Whatever it is, just make sure you enjoy every bit of them. In the next few days, the new year 2008 will arrive whether you like it or not and the race calender will be filled up again. When they come, you will regret that you never spend enough time indoor playing your other interest or simply with your family. RC is not all but all things can be RC’ed too. Hahaha. Well not yet - I hope, we hope so.

When playing RC Indoor is boring, you do this!

Monday, December 10th, 2007 | 207 views

Yes, another of the boring moment at home. Staying indoor is definitely not in the to-do list but nothing much can do here. It is raining and it is night time. Whatever it is, I tell you it is no fun starting your rc buggy or rc truggy indoor. Unless you want to stay outside the house for the night. Unless you are a single person and living on your own house or apartment. If that is true, that you are a single, bachelor and has nothing to do at the moment, then stay awake. I am here to save and entertain you at the same time. I promise you will not be bored ;) (more…)

RC Leisure with RC Light!

Monday, December 10th, 2007 | 363 views

Have you all ever thought of having some kind of lighting on top or in front of your buggy or truggy? I know the RC Drifters installing some cool LED light inside their drifting cars and they are just awesome during their run at night. I am sure the monster truck racers and enthusiasts do lots of lighting installation too. I have seen them and quite honestly pretty cool but nothing like what I am about to tell you here. (more…)

Do you really need RC Timing Watch?

Sunday, December 9th, 2007 | 154 views

Of course you need some kind of RC Timing Watch to help you in RC. I am not sure what the meaning of RC Timing Watch since my English is very poor. What I am trying to say is the one you use for your rc pit stop. The one you use to time your friend next nitro fuel up. Yes that is the one. I know there is a specific stop, pause and go watch but definitely you do not need Cartier watch. That is one damn expensive watch that only deserve around your wife’s hand. No, not that.

However, this is a boring moment. We all stay indoor and being a true offroader we just need to let the fume out. think something stupid probably in the same time. I hope you all not offended. I am just rambling here. :(

RC Track | RC Land | Real Estate dream!

Sunday, December 9th, 2007 | 237 views

Leisurely mood again here. You will be thinking like me too if you do not have any proper track locally. Of course we envy our western Malaysian who has wonderful track like the HPC Glenmarie and the most fortunate RC racers in Indonesia. Somehow, finding and getting this great real estate property for their RC Track seems easy.

For us here, I have to slap my head many times why oh why we still do not have our own proper track. Either we bashed and race in the abandoned construction yard or just at the beach. If we are not that crazy, we would have stopped playing RC long time already. We all hate the situation but nothing much can do. Our Electric RC racer counterpart are all smiling because they have one of the best onroad track and even coming up one indoor track. For us rc offroaders??? Pathetic!

How do you clean your rc truck, rc buggy, rc truggy or your rc car?

Thursday, December 6th, 2007 | 279 views

Now this is another topic that I would love to share and get feedback. I hate cleaning after some very eventful bashing session with friends. This is of course if you play rc truck, rc buggy or rc truggy. There are rc offroad vehicles and being dirty are their number one priority. However, what do you use to clean them? What gadget, what utility and what equipment you found that useful and practical enough to clean your rides? (more…)

Do you treat the laptop as your Radio Control Equipment on your Radio Control Race?

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007 | 206 views

It is that RC Leisure moment again here. Today, let us talk about your radio control race preparation to the track. For the normal racer probably like you and I, the most important thing to bring is our car, buggy or truggy kit to the track. Next is of course our radio transmitter. What else is needed?

Well, if you are into nitro like us, rc nitro fuel, glow starter and the starter box are the next in the list. If this is only a bashing session, you do not have to bring your battery charger because as usual the receiver battery will last the whole two to three tanks. For me, I do not even bring my rc tools. Ha-ha. (more…)

RC Wires vs Cables

Sunday, November 25th, 2007 | 174 views

There are so many things to talk to when we are in the leisure mode again. One thing that seldom come is the RC Wiring. Obviously we never covered this topic here in RC Nitro Offroad Blog but we have somehow talked about the Non-Nitro side of offroad in this blog. :D

Either you checked on the Rock Crawling section or the Brushless buggy category, they all have some kind of wiring to do. Meaning you need specific rc wires and not the Cat6 cables. You need soldering gun and iron. To newbies, this sound so hard and yes, we ever gone through the same pain too. However, if you look on the current market for electric products with the exception that you are already a professional racer, most of the electric products are plug and play systems. If you are familiar with computer, you know what we mean by plug and play system. Same case with RC electric wiring system. Especially on the RTR (Ready-To-Run) system. All you have to is just get your battery, connect the included plug to the electronic speed controller and you are done. Even some of the system need no tuning. Just turn off and turn on, you are already ready to run. So easy.

Now this is of course in contrast to what we believe. We mention it is so easy to run an electric powered buggy or truck, yet we still go for nitro version of the truck. Why you may asked. Well, it is the smell of the nitro fuel actually that livens up our spirit early in the morning and late at the afternoon. Nothing beats the sound of nitro. Nothing :D

This is of course just our rambling. It is after all, our RC Leisure moment. :D So cheer up and go rc racing!

RC Leisure Moment

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 | 140 views

OK, another of our popular RC Rambling on our RC Leisure moment. Let us all be honest, RC Products are no cheap products. It is not a cheap hobby that everyone can just simply come on board. That is the sad part in all this. RC as in Radio Control or Remote control is after all The Big Boys Toys.

Now, what about the small boys? Are they not worthy to play the same toys like us? I am not sure how you all started in this hobby but I still remember how I started. I tell you this in front, credit cards are your friends when come to buying RC Products. Nearly everything about RC I bought using the credit cards. Simply because the protection of buying things with credit card and of course, you do not have to carry many cash with you.

I want to share a little bit of advantage of owning a credit card other than the two above. Let me start by promoting the cards from the http://credit-cards.mint.co.uk. The things I like most are the no annual fee, the Online Fraud Protection and of course the big credit limit. With Mint credit cards, you can get up to £7,500 credit limit. Now tell me, which RC products you cannot buy with this entire amount. Ha-ha.

So go ahead, especially if you are in the UK. Look for Mint credit cards. You never know, the next purchase of the tire using that specific card can actually bring the luck for your podium finish. One will never know ;)

Can we have the GPS installed on our RC equipment?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007 | 159 views

Another leisure talk here. Have you all ever wondered about installing all our rc equipments with GPS so that whenever we lost them to the irresponsible theft that keep lurking around our pit area, we can actually search it back and catch the theft alive.

Interesting idea isn’t it? :D Well, I am not sure it is practical or not. We already have many high technology parts, system, motor, speed controller, the CRF engine and the latest is the FASST Futaba radio. Most of them is are actually as impossible and impractical at first but see where they are now.

So, is it practical to put the GPS into our rc equipment?

Do RC Racer ever exercise?

RC Leisure - RC mirror?!?

Monday, October 29th, 2007 | 117 views

Since this is a personal blog and it is simply unavoidable not to talk about personal thing here. Hope you all do not mind. I remembered one of the many conversations I had with my wife regarding RC. Now, I always hope that one day I can drive my RC car as well as Masami Hirosaka. I know, I know, you guys out there might say that I put my hope too high but hey who knows I might. I nearly name my first child Masami you know but my wife against it. She said “Who is this Masami that you adore so much? Is he a movie star?” I still remember she asked me that question.

I simply answer her “Well dear, Masami is not a movie star or a singer. He is the RC world champion in 1/12th scale electric, 1/10th scale Pan, 1/10th scale 2WD off road and 1/10th scale 4WD, all electric and you know what?” I asked her.

“How am I supposed to know dear since he is your “STAR”.” my wife replied.

“He is special because he ever did his RC driving training using a mirror.” Well, now I am curious, what type of mirror did Masami used during that training? Hmm, I wonder.
As always in my family, my wife just could not leave me without the problem solved. Guess what she suggested?
She said, “Dear, why don’t you try the mirror in our little room. I have many makeup mirrors for you to try with.” Geez. That is teasing. Haha.
