Well, can you all share with me what’s life without RC (radio control) car? For people that no idea about this hobby, they all can simply said, life is just smooth sailing for them. However, for a hardcore RC enthusiast like me, this life can be so dull and boring.

Keningau racers on driverstand
Believe it or not, I can go crazy just thinking about it. Especially being a parent to 3 hyper active kids. All boys! Fainted man. Iam just rambling here and all because I am not satisfied with what the heck I am doing on weekends working while friends all on the track. I need to change job. I need to just do this full time RC. Why not right.
One more thing, I also found out, I lose weight even more when not playing my rc cars. How that possible? They said, you don’t even need this Phentermine no prescription thing. What the heck is that? They said that this drug can help you in losing weight. Hahaha. I don’t need that. I just have my babies wake me up every 2 to 3 hours in the early morning to lose few grams everyday. Hahaha.

my new Xray NT1
Seriously, life is so boring without radio control. I love the off road radio control life style. The dirt and the nitro fuel just add up to the excitement in life. However recently, friend sponsored me an on road rc car that really hooked me even more. The awesome Xray NT1 kit that made me B Champion in the recent Keningau RC Speedway Fun Race for the first time ever. Not that I don’t like my Serpent 720 but on that race alone, i lose 3 spurs, all teeth stripped. Don’t that just made your day gloomy.
Once again, I hope to continue racing for many many more years and I hope my kids will follow suit. That time, I will be the mechanic and the pitboy for them. That will make my life perfect. What about my wife, well it will be perfect for her to get off from us boys once in a while when we all on track.. THAT IS FOR SURE!!! Hahaha.

This is just a rambling from me. The rc race of Keningau RC Speedway Fun GP / EP 2008 at Kg. Banjar has just over. I still obviously tired and confused with everything. Doing this write up on my free office time. I warn you all, this post maybe too long to stay awake. So get your coffee and a few biscuits to ream them all.
Firstly, sorry no picture for now. I did take many shots but the camera is not with me now at times of writing. So please forgive me. I promise will publish them later.
Anyway, as the title above said, Keningau RC Race Aftermath Confusion. Not only the aftermath, before the race itself I already confused with the location even though I am a local of Sabah. Haha. I need to stop by the roadside and gone online with my Celcom 3G to see back the Keningau RC Speedway Track Map Location. Luckily the organizer, Mr. Andre Lee was reachable through the hand phone and guided me to the awesome track.
I reached the track with many racers already there. Including Sandakan Team and even the Team Xray from Kuala Lumpur. Meaning, I was late.
As always, I never got so serious when comes to Nitro On Road race. I just went for this race to enjoy and release some throttle tension that been hibernated for so long due to NO Nitro Off Road race locally.
I brought along my family to Keningau and this of course had saved me from staying in the nearby hotel like what the rest of the racers did. I stayed in my brother-in-law’s house.
If you curious, they don’t have the Hilton Head rentals in Keningau but they do offer some nice cheap hotels and one of the best there is of course Hotel Perkasa. I heard most of the racers went for ‘night out’ on Saturday night. I still confused when they said all the “seventeens” (17) entertainment.
Haha. As they said, racing is no fun if no entertainment in between. Especially when going for outstation race. They said, going to rc races is always better without someone close by tagging along. I still confused what they meant. Haha. I just playing being innocent here if you didn’t realized already. Haha.
I think I better stop now. I am not actually reviewing the race now. However, if you have read up to this sentence, thank you for being patient. Okay, just for quick glance of the unofficial result.
Gas Powered GP 1/10 Final result:
A Main:
- Baha Xray NT1 (TQ)
- Hon Nyen Ho Serpent 720
- Mahathir Xray NT1
Electric Powered EP 1/10 Final Result:
- Jason Serpent S400
- Raphael HB Cyclone
- KS Chu Serpent S400
** not official result. Just based on my corrupted memory.
Sorry, that’s all I can remember. It was raining heavily just before the A Main GP final so the result was based on 3 qualifying rounds only. It rained so heavy with thunder and we thought the whole area going to be flooded. Haha. Luckily to some, the top racer from Team Xray and one of the best in Malaysia, Mr Emeel did not join the race. If not, the whole podium finishers will be under Team Xray Racers. Awesome.
Nevertheless, Baha was in the zone, totally focus to get the Top Qualifier brag. He was the only one with 21 laps that day. He was not the fastest if you look at the time per lap but he was consistent and so cool. I never heard this guy complain. Funny how he stayed so calm is beyond my imagination. I heard from friend, it got to do with some “rain dance” he perform before every race. I am not sure. We will interview him about this later on. Haha. About another racer, Mr. Mahathir of Team Xray, well what can I say. He was indeed fast and If I not mistaken, the fastest lapper on GP that day but due to maybe no “rain dance” and not enough sleep, he got too impatient and spoil his qualifying with many tumbling and scratches on the tarmac. I have no comment on him. After all, he had helped and provided me with the result proven car Xray NT1 and I have no regret. I can only say in malay dialect, “Tak bersedih lagi. Kereta tak basah pun!” (No more sad feeling for my car is not even wet!)
Not being bias to certain “Team Brand X” only, Mr Hon from Team Sandakan, running his mega powered Serpent 720, was faster as well if not one of the best Serpent driver available there. His yellow fluorescent color car was so intimidating when it came near you. By the time you realized, he already passed you 3 corners. I am sure he still regret the weather decided to intervene with the final result. Same goes to Arthur of Team Keningau. He was on fire that day. Driving his Serpent 720, he was on rail. He is indeed one damn fast driver. I think we will be seeing him more in the top ten on road racers. Just ignore his worn out and holes here and there Jeans. That is just his style to intimidate you. Haha.
Different story with B Main racers. They all completed the final 10 minutes race. Yours truly(me) won the B Main with new chassis, the Xray NT1; despite trying everything with the Serpent 720 during qualifying. I ran out of 2nd gear spurs which all of them stripped. I complaint a lot until the Team Xray racers got so fed up with me complaining everything, even the ‘rain’ was cursed when it was not even rain yet that time. Xray Mahathir came to the rescue with box stock Xray NT1 car for me. All I have to do was just take out the Nova engine from my new Serpent 720 and just fastening back the screw when everything was taken care by them. Awesome team work by the Team Xray. Thank you friends. Thank you for everything. The scolding, the driving tuition and even on how not to get your car wet in the rain advice. You made my day. I owe you guys a lot.
For the electric class, they all completed 3 rounds of qualifying and 2 final rounds. I heard the result was so close that even after the race, some not satisfied with the result. I am not sure. All I know, Team Serpent once again conquered Keningau EP result. The full report will be out in the Electric Powered RC blog done by our in house top racer, KS Chu.
Maybe also this was the first time my wife, my twins son and my 4 years old son Josh Luke were there to watch me racing, that gave me the extra boost to win something out of the race. I may not win the big Main, but being the hardcore RC Offroad racer for so long already, winning the B Main was indeed a good start to my RC Nitro Onroad life. More better result I am sure in the future. With team Xray behind me, I hope so, I will give proud moment to them.
Till next time, thank you for spending time reading my rambling. If you have something to reply to this post, you can do below at the comment box. I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

Maybe we are not supposed to talk about this but then we think it is a good story after all. So here, once again we rc rambling to all of you as we always did after very tiring race. We of course going to talk about prizes for the winners today.
I am not sure it happen on other country but here in Sabah, we love giving prizes that not even related to our radio control stuffs. I am not sure you followed our posting last time but there ever a time where the organizer decided to give away some cool household products to the winners on an rc race. Most of the time, of course just for the fun race. Most of the time, it happens on an Electric Powered Fun Race. Can you guest what prizes they are?
Well, obviously we all thought like if its not rc stuffs, it probably the coolest gadget like the playstation PS3 or the xbox 360 but NO! They decided to give away the a few rice bags in 5Kg or 10kg sizes!!
Incredible truth. If I not mistaken, we ever got a new pair of underwear as the lucky draws. Talk about being the race to remember, they even throw a few “condom” packets. Hahaha. I kid you not. Now we are talking rambling here.

Here a great invention if not so stupidly simple and effective. We found out about this through our local EP racers champion, Mr. KS Chu. Yes, it is about your RC EP cover from mon-techracing.net. Check this pictures. Simple but quite effective. We are not sure actually.

Pretty simple, eh?
We just got this in our mind that we could not get it out. So many insurance out there and if our rc stuffs can be covered with insurance, we are definitely pretty sure it is not the burial insurance from One Dollar Globe Insurance. We never heard anyone buried their rc rides and covered by insurance. We have seen friends ran over their buggies with their real car after they lose in the finals but never buried. Gosh.

Well are you looking for some serious RC (radio control) Job? If you are, I am sure you either stumble upon the big boss and somehow made friend with him or her and you end up as one of their employee or you happen to be one good driver who keeps winning and always if not often at the top of the podium and somehow got noticed by the big rc companies and you are hired as one of their rc kit developer or adviser.
On the other hand, you are not so lucky like them but you decided to try it through the traditional way, through writing in your resume. Yep, this is a tough job and like it or not you have to write it properly with whatever qualification you have. I tell you, this is no easy task. The chances of getting the call for interview is really slim. This is after all the RC, Radio Control Job you are looking for. Most definitely will be a practical interview. Be it driving the rc cars or drawing using some expensive 3D software. Either way, your resume need to look good, very good with pictures if can, to make that first impression that just beaming, “I am good and you need me”.
So how are you going to achieve that? (more…)
